Community Ophthalmology

Community Connect is a flagship community service initiative of the Eastern India Zonal Ophthalmological Congress (EIZOC), dedicated to improving eye health awareness and accessibility throughout Eastern India.

Rooted in EIZOC’s core mission—to foster collaboration and the exchange of knowledge in clinical care, education, and research among ophthalmologists—this initiative serves as a vital bridge between the medical community and the underserved populations in the region.

Through Community Connect, EIZOC actively engages in outreach activities aimed at early detection, prevention, and treatment of avoidable visual impairment. By organizing free eye camps, awareness drives, screening programs, and health education sessions in rural and remote areas, the initiative seeks to close the gap in access to quality eye care services.

These efforts not only help identify and treat common eye conditions like cataracts, refractive errors, and diabetic retinopathy at an early stage but also empower communities with the knowledge needed to maintain good ocular health. Ultimately, Community Connect reflects EIZOC’s commitment to social responsibility, striving to reduce the burden of preventable blindness and enhance the overall quality of life for people across Eastern India.
